Opened in 2001 Calderdale Royal Hospital is a modern hospital that provides a full range of outpatient services such as an accident and emergency department, and day case surgery. In 2016 the A&E department was saved from closure and now as part of overall renewal plans, the MRI Suite has undergone refurbishment of the department. Heatworks successfully won the bid to become the principal contractor for this phase of work.
In June 2021 works started on the upgrade of the MRI Suite with the removal of the old MRI scanner.
The MRI suite is located on the 1st floor so Mechanical and Electrical services serving this department were stripped out, leaving only services serving other departments on this floor or ones serving ground or second floors.
The next step was to carry out a survey and create full dimension As Installed Mechanical and Electrical Services to produce fully coordinated 3D drawings using Autodesk Revit.
Samples of the coordinated drawings created can be found in the BIM section of the Heatworks website.
After the design and coordinated drawings were approved, construction and installation of the new facilities could take place. Starting with the installation of the 2No new Philips MRI scanner.
A new plantroom was built at roof level serving HVAC services serving the MRI suite.
As well as being principal contractor Heatworks carried out installation of Mechanical and Electrical services, these services included :-
Air Conditioning, Ventilation, LTHW Heating, Chilled Water Services, Above Ground Drainage, Domestic Water Services, Emergency Extract, Quench Pipe Installation and Medical Gases
Small Power, General and Emergency Lighting, UPS & IPS installation, Nurse Call services, Door Access, CCTV and Aerial systems, Fire Alarm systems, Power Supplies, Power Distribution Board and RF Cage filter
The project was finished on time within budget and was welcomed by a satisfied client.
